Mount Dora Jane Austen Festival
530 N Donnelly St, Mount Dora, FL 32757
About this happenin
Each February the Jane Austen Fest turns downtown Mount Dora Regency for three days of scholar lectures, hands-on workshops, afternoon teas and a costume ball. Annie Donnelly Park is the base, with a Regency Marketplace of period clothing, books and crafts running beside the registration center. Friday brings orientation, talks and a soiree. Saturday stacks classes such as bonnet making, Regency dance, hair updos and lawn bowling against seated four-course teas inside the 1893 Donnelly House, then closes with the ball. Sunday eases off with the morning marketplace, a Dora Canal cruise and a picnic. Know before you go: this is a nonprofit fest that funds college scholarships for women. Registration opens November 1 and comes first, since workshops and events are booked individually after it. Single-day admission and a three-day pass are both sold, and children 12 and under get in free. Period dress is encouraged but not required. Venues sit within a few blocks of the park. Service dogs only.
