Around 300 juried artists fill the brick streets of downtown Mount Dora with white tents every February, turning the lakeside town into an open-air gallery. Painting, sculpture, clay, photography, fiber and fine jewelry show side by side, and the festival consistently ranks among the country's strongest for artist sales, which is why the tour buses roll in from both coasts. Live music plays in Donnelly Park, food vendors and drink kiosks sit throughout the grounds, and proceeds go to the Mount Dora Center for the Arts, which runs the whole thing. Know before you go: admission is free, with donation boxes around the grounds. Saturday runs 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm. Downtown streets close, so parking is tight. A free shuttle runs from Mount Dora Christian Academy on West 13th Avenue, accessible spaces sit behind City Hall on North Baker Street, and residents often rent yard parking for a fee. Well behaved pets are allowed, though organizers suggest leaving them home. Bring cash; ATMs are on site.
