Where to stay

The convention center allows no overnight parking. Rosen Plaza, the closest of the hotels on International Drive, is a nine-minute walk away. It has a skybridge into the hall, and in October it wouldn't sell a single night of MEGACON weekend; this guide says which still sold Friday or Saturday alone.

About this happenin

The organizer counts close to 200,000 people through the Orange County Convention Center's West Building during MEGACON Orlando's four days each spring. Artist Alley creators sketch to order at their tables. Dealers sell graded comics and trading cards, and the vinyl figures go wall to wall. Main-stage panels and photo ops bring in television and film guests. Cosplay has its own program: a Masters of Cosplay qualifier on stage with a cash prize, a walk-on Cosplay Red Carpet that needs no registration and involves no judging, a kids' version of the same, fandom meetups for group photos, and workshops on fabrication and performance taught by people who build costumes for a living. The show runs Thursday through Sunday at 9800 International Drive. Thursday is the short day, and its early opening is reserved for four-day pass holders and anyone with an advance VIP or Ultimate pass. Tickets go on sale through the organizer ahead of the show.
