MEGACON Orlando fills the West Building of the Orange County Convention Center for four days each spring, pulling a crowd the organiser counts near 200,000. The floor runs from Artist Alley tables where creators sketch to order, through dealer aisles of graded comics, trading cards and wall-to-wall vinyl figures, out to main-stage panels and photo ops with television and film guests. Cosplay is the real currency. There is a Masters of Cosplay qualifier on stage with a cash prize, a walk-on Cosplay Red Carpet that needs no registration and involves no judging, a kids' version of the same, fandom meetups for group photos, and workshops on fabrication and performance taught by people who build costumes for a living. Know before you go: the show runs Thursday through Sunday at 9800 International Drive. Thursday is the short day and opens early only for advance VIP, Ultimate and four-day pass holders. Tickets go on sale through the organiser ahead of the show.
