Anime Festival Orlando
9801 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819
About this happenin
Anime Festival Orlando has drawn Central Florida's anime crowd together since 2000, and it still feels built by the people who attend rather than staged for them. Three days fill the Hyatt Regency Orlando on International Drive with the Happy Happy Cosplay GO GO GO contest on the Main Events stage, a vendor room and Artist Alley worth a slow lap, a maid cafe, tabletop and video game rooms, and Game Show Theater, where a hostess called The Countess runs quizzes for points you spend on prizes like arcade tickets. Tales of Orlandia, the convention's own live action card game, threads through the weekend with NPCs, rival factions and an ending that depends on who wins. Know before you go: the convention runs Friday through Sunday, with panels and performances starting as early as 10am and finishing as late as 2am. Three day passes cost less the earlier you buy, single day admission is sold for each day, and children under five get in free.
