Orange County's mayor has hosted a free afternoon of jazz at Cypress Grove Park since 2012. It began as a thank-you to the county's service and volunteer organizations, and crowds under the oaks beside Lake Jessamine have topped 1,000. Local jazz acts play through the afternoon while people sit out on folding chairs. Food trucks park nearby, and picnics are welcome. No ticket or reservation is needed. Alcohol is not allowed in the park, and pets are kept out of the event area. Orange County Parks and Recreation runs it, with support from WUCF 89.9 FM.
