Sanford Porchfest turns more than a dozen front porches in Sanford's historic residential district into stages, with 70-plus acts playing to neighbors camped out on the lawns. Four Sanford women started it in 2017 after studying the original Porchfest in Ithaca, New York, and it now funds youth arts programming and fine-art scholarships in Seminole County. Set times are staggered on purpose, so the day is built around wandering block to block, and it closes with a full band in Centennial Park. Know before you go: admission is free, and the organizers ask you to give back at the merch booth, the art auction, or the donation jars on the porches. Music runs from midday to about 6:30 pm, with the Centennial Park closer from 6:45 to 7:45. Check the parking map released ahead of the festival instead of crowding residential streets that are not closed, and plan on walking. Bring a lightweight chair or blanket, a refillable water bottle, and sun cover. Leashed dogs are welcome. No alcohol inside the footprint.
