Bluegrass in the Park

About this happenin

Bluegrass bands take turns on the stage under the big oaks at Fort Christmas Historical Park, out in the town of Christmas in far east Orange County, with the park's fort and pioneer village behind the crowd. The Fort Christmas Historical Society puts the festival on with Orange County Parks and says it may be the oldest ongoing free bluegrass festival in Florida. Music runs from a 9:45 a.m. flag ceremony to about 4 p.m. Local school clubs compete in a BBQ cook-off and a bake-off, and the awards come in the afternoon. Between sets there are food vendors and craft booths to browse. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic blanket.
