The Maitland Rotary Art Festival wraps the path around Lake Lily with more than 120 juried artists and keeps the booths lit after dark, which is where the Art Under the Stars name comes from. The Rotary Club of Maitland has run it since 1976, and what the weekend raises goes back out to Central Florida nonprofits, more than a million dollars so far. Sculpture, glass, pottery, fiber and painting stand under white tents beneath the oaks, judged for cash awards, with work by over 2,000 K-12 students from Orange and Seminole county schools shown alongside the professionals. Music and food fill the rest of the day around the water. Know before you go: admission is free. Saturday is the long day and the one worth building around. The student galleries make it an easy stop with kids.
