Avalon Aglow starts with a parade around Downtown Avalon Park at 3 p.m. and ends with fireworks at Avalon Lake at 9. It's on in early December, free to all. Local performers fill the hours in between while vendors sell food. There are train rides and a bounce park. Santa poses for pictures. For the fireworks, carry chairs and a blanket down to the lake. Rain doesn't cancel it, and friendly pets on a leash are welcome. You'll pay for what you eat and drink, and for some of the activities. Several roads close for the event, Avalon Park East Boulevard and Avalon Lake Drive among them. Parking is free behind CVS and Publix and on the streets and lots near Town Park and The Marketplace.
