A messy wing-eating contest and a pie bake-off give Lake Nona's free patriotic summer street party its competitive streak. The Great American Block Party sets up at Lake Nona Town Center in southeast Orlando with food trucks and carnival games, and live music plays while roaming entertainers move through the crowd. Between the lineup of trucks and the sweet treats there's plenty to eat, and the night closes with a laser light show over the town center. No ticket is needed. Lake Nona bills the party as annual, but its own page for it gives no date or start time; the schedule turns up on the Lake Nona events page instead. It's an outdoor event in a Florida summer, so plan for heat and a passing afternoon storm.
More in June: 10 other Orlando events.
