The Central Florida Dragon Parade draws crowds of more than 8,000 to a route only a few blocks long. Every February, lion dancers and multi-person dragons move down Thornton Avenue through Orlando's Mills 50 district, from Lake Highland Drive and North Mills Avenue to Thornton and Colonial. Kung fu lion teams, the SACA Golden Dragons, Orlando Taiko Dojo and dozens of Asian community groups march alongside city and county officials. The parade goes 11 a.m. to noon. A Lunar New Year street festival follows at the finish, with roughly 40 food and vendor booths in the Edoboy lot on North Thornton until 4 p.m. Entry and street parking are free, and several Mills 50 businesses open their lots.
