About this happenin

The Central Florida Dragon Parade sends lion dancers, taiko drummers and multi-person dragons down Thornton Avenue through Orlando's Mills 50 district every February, then turns the finish line into a Lunar New Year street festival. Kung fu lion teams, the SACA Golden Dragons, Orlando Taiko Dojo and dozens of Asian community groups march alongside city and county officials, starting at Lake Highland Drive and North Mills Avenue and ending at Thornton and Colonial. Asia Trend, Mills 50 Main Street, R.E.A.C.H. and Y.E.S.S. have run it since 2012, and recent editions have drawn more than 8,000 people to a route only a few blocks long. Know before you go: the entire event is free, street parking included, and several Mills 50 businesses open their lots, among them Addition Financial at 947 North Mills Avenue and the lot behind Track Shack. The parade runs 11 a.m. to noon, and the festival that follows in the Edoboy lot on North Thornton keeps roughly 40 food and vendor booths going until 4 p.m. Families are the core audience.
