About this happenin
The Little Haiti Cultural Complex courtyard, 212 NE 59th Terrace, hosts Sounds of Little Haiti, a monthly Haitian music night, on the third Friday at 6 p.m. It started in 2016, after a similar event, Big Night in Little Haiti, ended for lack of funding, and Sandy Dorsainvil leads the series. General admission has been between $30 and $37, and VIP costs more. Children 5 and under are free. A different headliner takes the stage each month. The songs are in Creole, and the courtyard is for dancing. Food and drink vendors set up around it, along with local businesses and community groups. The aim is for it to become a permanent institution, and Dorsainvil calls it a bridge to identity for young Haitian Americans.
