Every Sunday, downtown Los Angeles gets an open-air food market: Smorgasburg, in the ROW DTLA complex on South Alameda Street. It opened in 2016 as the West Coast branch of a market that started in Williamsburg in 2011. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., it stays open on holidays, and getting in costs nothing. Most of the stalls sell food, with a few vendors selling records and vintage clothes. A bar pours for anyone 21 and over, and children can come into the beer garden with a parent. Pets are not allowed. The on-site garage holds 4,000 cars. The market opens rain or shine, and in an all-day downpour some vendors stay home.
