About this happenin
Ocean Park's residents' group, the Ocean Park Association, started this parade and still runs it on Main Street on the morning of July 4, stepping off at 9:30 a.m. Families and civic groups march it, and a fair number bring the dog. Each year gets a theme. You can watch from anywhere along Main Street. The grandstand, where the announcements happen, is in front of the Ocean Park Branch Library. The route runs between Pico Boulevard and the beach lots at the south end, and the organiser has flipped its direction before, so look at the route map for the year. The route and some of the streets leading to it close to cars from 6 a.m. to noon. Public parking is in the lots off Neilson Way to the west. The organiser would rather you came on foot or by bike, and with the streets shut it is the easier way in.
