Santa Monica Farmers Markets
155-199 Arizona Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90401
About this happenin
The City of Santa Monica runs four weekly farmers markets: Wednesday and Saturday on Arizona Avenue downtown, Saturday on Pico Boulevard, and Sunday on Main Street. The Wednesday market started in 1981, and the city counts it among the largest and most diverse certified farmers markets in the country, with more than 60 California farms. Plenty of well-known Los Angeles chefs shop it. The Saturday market downtown dates to 1991 and has the biggest share of certified organic growers of the four. Main Street opened in 1995 and has about 40 farms, and shops from the street itself take stalls there on Sundays. Prepared food is sold at Pico and Main Street only, and Pico has free parking. All four markets take CalFresh EBT, and Pico matches it for fresh fruit and vegetables. They run year round, rain or shine, though the city can close one for a holiday or in extreme conditions.
