More than 1.5 million spectators lined Huntington Beach and the coast around it for the 10th Pacific Airshow, by the organiser's count. It started in 2016, and the organiser calls it America's most attended airshow. The show runs for three days in early October from a site on the sand off Pacific Coast Highway near 1st Street, south of the pier. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the flying goes from about 10:30 to 4, aerobatic teams and military jets one act after another. It is a rain or shine event, and the organiser recommends ear protection for small children. The ticketed beach zone has a kids zone and a STEM lab, and the pilots hold signing sessions there. The live commentary is only heard in there. People watching from a boat or from outside the fence see the same flying without it.
