About this happenin
Orange County's fair runs about a month each summer on the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, its home since 1949. Attendance has topped a million in every year it has run since 2005. Recent fairs opened Wednesday to Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. Animals are a big part of it. 4-H and FFA kids show their livestock, and Centennial Farm has cow milking demonstrations through the afternoon. There are pig races too. The carnival has more than 50 rides and 30 games. Fair After Dark gives the Plaza Stage a theme for each night it is open, with karaoke on Wednesdays and Latin night on Sundays, free with admission. Daily attendance is capped, so tickets are sold online for a set date and the organiser asks people not to turn up without one. Parking on site cost $15 at the last fair. Concerts at Pacific Amphitheatre, on the same grounds, are a separate ticket.
More in July: 9 other Los Angeles events.
