OC Greek Festival
405 N Dale Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801
About this happenin
Parishioners bake the pastries for the OC Greek Festival, and the rest of the menu comes out of the kitchen at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, at 405 North Dale Avenue in Anaheim. That means gyros, feta fries, grilled lamb chops, moussaka and pastitsio over a weekend in May. The organizers call the loukoumades, Greek donuts drizzled with honey and cinnamon, a festival favorite. A taverna pours Greek wine, beer and a house cocktail. There is a small charge at the gate. Seniors, kids 10 and under, and military, police and fire personnel with ID go in free. Greek dance groups take turns on a set schedule, and after the last one everyone is invited onto the floor to learn the Kalamatiano. Shoppers have the Festival Agora and a Greek food market. Tours of the church run several times a day.
More in May: 12 other Los Angeles events.
