Monterey Park Lunar New Year Festival

Lion and dragon dancers open Monterey Park's Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday morning, and the street fair then runs through Sunday evening on East Garvey Avenue, between Garfield and Alhambra Avenues. The city closes those blocks for the weekend and runs free parking at schools and parks nearby, with shuttle buses from some of them. World Journal LA produces the festival with the city and the downtown business improvement district. Performers are on stage both days, and booths sell gifts and specialty items as well as food. Rides go in the parking lot at Garvey and Lincoln Avenues, which becomes a carnival fun zone.
