Little Saigon Tet Parade
Bolsa Ave & Magnolia St, Westminster, CA 92683
About this happenin
A Tet parade has gone down Bolsa Avenue in Little Saigon for more than two decades, and the City of Westminster now presents it. It sets off from Bolsa and Magnolia Street heading east, turns south on Bushard Street and finishes at Bishop Place. An opening ceremony comes first, about an hour before the parade moves. Watching is free. Floats and marching bands go by, with lion dancers, color guards, martial arts groups, veterans' and youth organizations, scouts and local businesses. Westminster and the cities around it hold the largest Vietnamese community outside Vietnam, much of it built by people who fled after the communist takeover at the end of the Vietnam War, and the city calls the parade its main chance each year to celebrate them. More than 15,000 people line the route, and local TV and streaming channels carry it to more than 250,000 viewers around the world.
