Golden Dragon Parade
N Broadway and Bernard St, Los Angeles, CA 90012
About this happenin
Chinatown's North Broadway closes to traffic for the Golden Dragon Parade, Los Angeles's Lunar New Year procession, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on a Saturday around the new year. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles hosts it, and the chamber puts the crowd at more than a hundred thousand along the route, with more watching on local TV. Lion and dragon dances, Chinese folk dance, martial arts and marching bands share the street with city officials and local business leaders. Watching from the curb is free; grandstand seats are sold separately. Parking in Chinatown is scarce, so the chamber suggests Metro or a rideshare and arriving by 10 or 11 a.m. The route starts at Hill and Temple, turns on Bernard and comes back along Broadway.
More in February: 6 other Los Angeles events.
