MAC-LA Free Summer Concerts
610 S Park View St, Los Angeles, CA 90057
About this happenin
Every summer the bandshell at Park View Street and 6th Street, on the edge of MacArthur Park, puts on free concerts about ten blocks west of Downtown. For 18 years the organisation behind them was called Levitt LA. It is now MAC-LA. A season opens in late June and runs into August, about ten nights in all, and they don't all land on a Saturday, so look at the calendar before you plan around one. Shows are bilingual and for all ages, with no tickets and no RSVP. The organiser counts more than 30,000 people over a summer. Local food vendors work the park all season. Picnics on the lawn are welcome, and so are leashed pets. Alcohol and smoking are not. Get there early if you want a good patch of grass. The B Line's MacArthur Park/Westlake station is a quarter mile from the bandshell.
More in June: 10 other Los Angeles events.
