About this happenin
Downtown Los Angeles gets free outdoor concerts all summer at California Plaza, next to MOCA, The Broad and Walt Disney Concert Hall. The A and E Lines stop nearby at Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill. Grand Performances, the nonprofit behind the concerts, was founded in 1986 and books theater and dance as well. It calls itself the longest-running presenter of free outdoor performance downtown. The main-stage concerts run on Saturdays from June into late August, with music from around the world, and Ozomatli and Angelique Kidjo are among the acts it has booked. Seating is open and first come, first served. The plaza holds 7,000 people across its upper and lower levels, with 350 amphitheater seats, and blankets and low-backed chairs are welcome. The venue opens an hour before the show. Pack a picnic, but leave your own alcohol and your pets at home.
