Every fall, Seoul International Park in Koreatown fills for four days with food stalls and stage shows. The Los Angeles Korean Festival runs Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Normandie and Olympic, and it is free to walk in. The Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation puts it on. Leaders of the early Korean American community founded it in 1974 to keep their Korean roots after they arrived here. The Korea Times sponsors a parade down Olympic Boulevard, where floats from sponsors and performers roll past the crowds. Inside the park, a 100-foot wall tells the story of Korean Americans and Koreatown, and you can put on a hanbok for photos. The stalls sell Korean pancakes, spicy rice cake, barbecue and tornado potatoes. More than 250 companies from Korea's eight provinces bring regional food and goods that are hard to find even in Koreatown. Street parking nearby is very limited. The festival arranges paid lots with a shuttle.
More in October: 18 other Los Angeles events.
