LA Pride Parade and Festival
Hollywood Blvd & Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028
About this happenin
In June 1970, a year after Stonewall, Christopher Street West put on the world's first permitted gay parade. The nonprofit still produces LA Pride, the oldest Pride celebration in Southern California, on Hollywood Boulevard on the second weekend of June. The parade goes on the Sunday. Lately it has started at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue, run north to Hollywood Boulevard, east to Cahuenga and back south to Sunset. When it's done, Pride Village takes over Hollywood Boulevard from Vine Street to Gower Street. It's free and open to everyone, with performers on stage, food trucks, nonprofit booths and a bar for the 21-and-over crowd. Christopher Street West runs free programs the rest of the year too, among them the Salon Series of panel talks and Trans Self-Care Sunday.
More in June: 10 other Los Angeles events.
