Navy ships tie up in San Pedro's Outer Harbor for LA Fleet Week over the extended Memorial Day weekend, and the tours are free. The Pacific Battleship Center, a nonprofit, runs it, with the festival on the waterfront in front of Battleship IOWA. Ship tours need no reservation. You join a digital queue on the day and wait for your phone to call you to the shuttle line, and every adult needs a government ID to board. The Navy won't say which ships are coming until the week of the event, for security reasons. The expo has more than 90 exhibits and a covered dining tent beside the stage, with food trucks around it and competitions through the day. A free trolley runs along the waterfront, and a free shuttle comes in from the remote lot. Welcome parties in downtown San Pedro and Wilmington start a few days earlier, and the weekend closes on Memorial Day with an observance at the main stage.
