Hermosa Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade

Hermosa Beach closes Pier Avenue and Hermosa Avenue on a Saturday in mid-March for its St. Patrick's Day Parade. It steps off at 11 a.m. at Valley Drive and Pier Avenue and runs 0.7 miles down Pier and Hermosa Avenue to 8th Street. Over 70 entries usually take part, school marching bands and civic groups among them, plus local businesses and a few unique vehicles. Find a spot near one of the three announcing stages and you'll hear about each entry as it passes. The streets close early that morning, and parking is short because the City Hall and Community Center lots are held for dignitaries and vendors. The Chamber suggests walking or biking in. A group of friends meeting at the old Fat Face Fenner's Saloon on Hermosa Avenue started the parade in 1995. The Hermosa Beach Chamber Foundation now produces it with the City of Hermosa Beach.
