Hollywood Christmas Parade
Hollywood Blvd & Orange Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90028
About this happenin
Gene Autry and Mary Pickford both took part in the Hollywood Christmas Parade, which started in 1928 and still runs on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It loops east on Hollywood Boulevard, down Vine Street and back along Sunset, with celebrities, marching bands, dance and cheer teams, giant balloons and floats. The whole thing is filmed for television. Toys for Tots is the main charity, and the parade collects toys and donations along the way. The curb is free along most of the route. Grandstand seats are reserved and sold ahead. Some streets close the day before and parking is tight, so take the Metro to Hollywood/Vine or Hollywood/Highland. Both stations put you right on the route.
