About this happenin

Gloria Molina Grand Park, the county park in Downtown Los Angeles, throws a free Fourth of July block party that it bills as the West Coast's largest. DJs and live bands play from late afternoon into the evening. Food Truck Row handles dinner. After dark, a show of about 700 drones closes the night. All ages are welcome, and so are pets. Bags are checked at the gates, and coolers and folding chairs stay home, though snacks, sealed nonalcoholic drinks, small bags and strollers are fine. Parking is $10 a car in the Music Center garages. The Civic Center/Grand Park station on Metro's B and D Lines lets you skip that. Several streets around the park close for the party.

More in July: 9 other Los Angeles events.
