Downtown Dia de los Muertos at Grand Park
200 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012
About this happenin
For about ten days from late October into early November, Gloria Molina Grand Park at 200 N. Grand Avenue holds Downtown Dia de los Muertos, a free outdoor exhibition of ofrendas built by professional artists and local organizations. You don't need a ticket, and pets are welcome. The Civic Center/Grand Park stop on the Metro B and D lines lets out at the park. The opening Saturday has live music and a processional with blessings, and kids get face painting and sugar skull workshops. Noche de los Muertos closes the run with more music and workshops, and after dark the park is lit with candles and offerings. Anyone can add to the community altar with a framed photo or a memento for someone they have lost. Bring a photocopy, because nothing left there comes back.
More in October: 18 other Los Angeles events.
