About this happenin
Between May and Halloween weekend, the Fairbanks Lawn at Hollywood Forever Cemetery fills with picnic blankets for Cinespia, which screens classic films there after dark. Cinespia says it was the first outdoor screening series in Los Angeles, and it is still the longest-running. Across all its venues, which also include the Rose Bowl, the Greek Theatre and Los Angeles State Historic Park, it holds more than 30 events a year. Bring a blanket or a low chair and pack a picnic. Beer and wine are allowed but hard liquor isn't, and food is sold on site too. A DJ plays as the sun sets and again after the film. Seating is first come, first served, and the show goes on in the rain. Only service dogs and emotional support animals are allowed. Tickets are sold through TicketWeb, which also sells an on-site parking pass.
More in May: 12 other Los Angeles events.
