Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival
Anaheim St and Orange Ave, Long Beach, CA 90804
About this happenin
The Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival comes down Anaheim Street in Long Beach each spring, close to Khmer New Year. Cambodia Town, Inc., a nonprofit, runs it and calls it one of the largest events in the city. The first parade went down Anaheim Street on April 24, 2005. It had rained all night, and the sky cleared less than an hour before the start. Apsara dancers and pin peat musicians rode a float while thousands of adults and children waved Cambodian and American flags. Long Beach has the largest Cambodian community outside Southeast Asia, and in 2007 the city designated Cambodia Town, which the organizers say is the first in the country. Since 2019 the parade and the culture festival have run as one event. Community groups enter the parade, and the organizers take Grand Marshal nominations and booth rentals for the festival.
More in April: 8 other Los Angeles events.
