Bungalow Heaven Home Tour
1000 E Mountain St, Pasadena, CA 91104
About this happenin
Bungalow Heaven is a square mile of Pasadena built between 1888 and 1956, mostly one- and two-story Craftsman houses. In 1989 it became the city's first landmark district, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. On tour day, eight of its houses open their interiors to visitors. You walk the route yourself. A volunteer docent in each house explains its history and architecture, and restoration experts along the way demonstrate their work and talk about keeping an old house in shape. McDonald Park, on E Mountain Street, is the base for the day, with music, a silent auction, homemade cookies and food trucks at lunch. The Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association, a nonprofit of neighborhood volunteers, has run the tour since 1990. Tickets are required.
