New River Gorge National Park
Fayetteville, WV · Appalachian Mountains, West Virginia
New River Gorge National Park follows one of the oldest rivers on the continent as it carves a deep, forested canyon through southern West Virginia near Fayetteville. The 876-foot New River Gorge Bridge arches over it all, framing the most photographed view in the state, while the river below delivers some of the East's best whitewater, including Class IV+ rapids on the Lower New. Spring and fall bring big water and blazing color to the rim trails.
