Wekiwa Springs State Park
About
Forty-two million gallons a day rise here at a steady 72 degrees, filling a kidney-shaped pool that fades from concrete-apron shallows to a 15-foot cavern at the boil. Most days you wade in with families and college kids from nearby Orlando, float over the limestone vents, then trade the swimming hole for a rented canoe and paddle Wekiwa Run where it braids into Rock Springs Run and the headwaters of the Wekiva River. Skip the scuba dreams (cave diving is off-limits) and come for the simplest version of a Florida spring: cold, clear, and yours from 8 a.m. to closing.
