Four Blue Angels Skyhawks hang in tight diamond formation above the seven-story glass atrium, and that is just the front door of one of the largest aviation museums on earth. More than 150 restored aircraft fill the floor, from a Curtiss flying boat that first crossed the Atlantic to Vietnam-era fighters and the jet that flew President George W. Bush, all of it on the home base of the Blue Angels at NAS Pensacola. Admission is free, parking is free, and on most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from spring through fall you can catch the real Blue Angels practicing overhead.

Expedition: Bigfoot, The Sasquatch Museum

Cherry Log, GA · North Georgia Mountains

Tucked along Highway 515 between Blue Ridge and Ellijay, this 4,000-square-foot shrine to Sasquatch claims the largest permanent collection of Bigfoot artifacts anywhere, and it does not pretend to be neutral about whether the big guy is real. Founded in 2016 by Navy veteran and Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization member David Bakara and his wife Malinda, it packs in wall after wall of footprint and handprint casts, sighting maps, hair samples, and listening stations piping out genuine recorded grunts and howls. You can settle into the Sasquatch Theater for looping eyewitness footage, gawk at the world's only Bigfoot research and tech ATV the Bakaras once drove on Florida investigations, and find a cast of a rare Bigfoot butt-print laid out on red velvet. Cap it with the gift shop, where David sells footprint casting kits he assembles himself.

This columned white mansion is the official "birthplace" of the Cabbage Patch Kids, the soft-sculpture dolls Xavier Roberts dreamed up in these North Georgia hills. Time your visit for the hourly "delivery," when a Licensed Patch Nurse tends the Magic Crystal Tree, announces that a Mother Cabbage is in labor, doses her with "Imagicillin," and pulls a freshly born baby from the leaves while pink and blue BunnyBees decide the gender. You wander rooms full of dolls in incubators and adoption cribs, and yes, you can take one home with its own birth certificate. Admission is free, the staff play it gloriously straight, and the whole thing lands somewhere between sweet and wonderfully surreal.

Billed as the world's largest classic-car junkyard, this 34-acre forest swallows more than 4,000 vehicles built in 1972 or earlier, most of them rusting hulks from the 1950s and 60s with saplings growing up through their hoods. What began as a 1931 general store turned into a salvage yard, and the family who still runs it now charges photographers a few dollars more than walkers because that is who really comes: this is a photo pilgrimage, with 6-plus miles of pine-needle trails winding past moss-furred Fords and the famous "two-ton flowerpot" Chevy. Plan on several hours, wear real shoes, and note it is open Tuesday through Saturday, roughly 9 to 4. Bring a camera and let the rust and roots do the rest.

T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

Port St. Joe, FL · Panhandle

Ten miles of sugar-white sand back up against the tallest dunes left standing in the Panhandle, and the wildness is the whole point: drive the gate at Cape San Blas, then walk a mile or two and the crowds thin to sea oats, snowy plovers, and the occasional sea turtle track. Shell the Gulf side at low tide or cross to the calm St. Joseph Bay flats, where whelks, sand dollars, and scallops turn up in the shallows. Go for the morning light on the dunes, stay for a sunset you will not share with a high-rise.

Pensacola Beach wears the Panhandle's sugar-white quartz sand and emerald water, with Casino Beach at its heart: a Gulf fishing pier, a boardwalk of bars and seafood shacks, and beachfront hotels a barefoot walk from the water. When you want the wild side, the Gulf Islands shoreline at Fort Pickens is right down the road, but here the draw is the easy, lively beach-town day.

Grayton Beach pairs sugar-white quartz sand with Western Lake, a coastal dune lake that pools right behind the dunes and breaks through to the Gulf after a hard rain. The state park keeps the whole stretch undeveloped, no high-rise wall behind the sand, just scrub oak, sea oats, and water that runs emerald in the afternoon light. It is the quiet edge of the 30A corridor, a short walk from the lot but a world from the resorts.

Twenty-seven miles of sugar-white sand and that startling green Gulf water, and almost all of it open to the public. The Russell-Fields City Pier runs 1,500 feet out over the waves at the foot of Pier Park, where the shops, the bars, and dinner are a barefoot walk back across the boardwalk. This is the Panhandle at full volume: the busiest, liveliest beach town on the coast, and it earns the crowd.

Seven-plus miles of white-quartz sand run undeveloped along Santa Rosa Island's western tip, with the 1834 brick fort the only thing breaking the line of dunes and sea oats. There is no resort strip here, just a long drive past the gate to walk-in shoreline where the Gulf turns over good shelling and the high-rises of Pensacola Beach stay a distant smudge to the east. Come for the quiet, the birds working the wrack line, and sand that squeaks underfoot.

Destin's public accesses open onto the sugar-white quartz sand and jewel-green water that earn the Emerald Coast its name. James Lee Park is the easiest way in: a county boardwalk over the dunes, beach umbrellas packed shoulder to shoulder by midmorning, and a charter fleet trolling for redfish just off the sand. It is a beach that wears its crowds well, with a frozen drink and a fried-grouper sandwich a barefoot walk from your towel.
