Ybor City Cigar Festival
1800 E 8th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605
About this happenin
Ybor City was built on cigars, and once a year Centennial Park fills with the people who still make them, rolling leaves by hand while the crowd watches. Roughly 150 vendors ring the park and spill onto the surrounding streets with handmade smokes from small blenders and famous houses alike, alongside accessories, art and clothing, while a food truck alley, a beer and spirits truck and a live stage carry the afternoon. The nonprofit Cigar Heritage Festival, Inc. has run it since the 1990s, descended from the La Verbena del Tabaco celebrations Tampa threw for the industry in the 1930s. Know before you go: general admission is free, and the festival runs 11 am to 5 pm, rain or shine. Paid upgrades are sold each year, including a VIP tent with open bar, lunch and premium cigars, and reserved pavilion seating with drink tickets, and both tend to sell out well ahead. Bring a lawn chair, since park seating is what you carry in. You must be 21 to buy alcohol.
