The Tampa Bay Wine & Food Festival runs four April days across Tampa and St. Petersburg, ending with a Grand Tasting on the lawn at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Midweek belongs to dinners and tastings inside restaurants on both sides of the bay, plus a night out at Seminole Hard Rock. Friday brings the Chef Showdown, where chefs cook against each other in the park and guests taste the plates and vote. Saturday is the wide-open one, with dozens of area restaurants plating and pouring, wine and cocktail tastings, and a demo kitchen stage running through the afternoon. Proceeds fund EAT SMART, a nutrition program for local middle schoolers. Know before you go: tickets are all-inclusive, so food and drink are covered. Weekday events are 21 and up and need a valid government ID, while the Saturday Grand Tasting is open to all ages and free for children under 10. Friday and Saturday sit outdoors and go rain or shine, so dress for sun. Chairs, strollers and beach bags are welcome Saturday; outside food, drink and pets are not.
