About this happenin

The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival closes its season with two days of R&B, jazz, gospel and neo-soul on the lawn at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, downtown Tampa's riverfront stage. The two-day Music Fest is the finale of a celebration that opens in January around the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and carries through April, and the park fills in around the music: vendor villages of Black-owned businesses, a Children's Village, health screenings, drum circles and line dancing on the grass. Know before you go: gates open at noon both days, with entry on Ashley Street. Admission is tiered across general admission, preferred seating and VIP, and children under 12 get in free. The Poe Garage sits closest to the park, with other downtown garages and hourly street parking nearby. Bring a low-backed lawn chair for the general area and an empty bottle to fill. Coolers, outside food and alcohol stay home, along with tents and umbrellas that block someone's view. The park is ADA compliant.
