Gasparilla Music Festival
101 S Meridian Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
About this happenin
Gasparilla Music Festival turns a downtown Tampa green space into three days of music each spring, with proceeds going to youth music education. The nonprofit Gasparilla Music Foundation has run it since 2012, booking more than fifty acts across genres and stocking the food stalls with Tampa restaurants rather than standard festival concessions. It now sets up at Meridian Fields, an 11.5-acre lawn between Water Street, the Channel District and Ybor City, with the skyline standing behind the stages. Know before you go: gates open mid-afternoon and music runs late into the evening, Friday through Sunday. Kids 12 and under get in free, and a midday Kids Fest on the weekend days brings face painting and an instrument petting zoo, though alcohol is served and later sets can run explicit. The site is cashless. Bring a low chair, a small blanket and a sealed liter of water; leave coolers, outside food and umbrellas at home. City and Water Street garages sit within walking distance, and the TECO streetcar runs free. Rain or shine, no refunds.
