About this happenin
The Old Salt Fishing Foundation's spring King of the Beach is one of Florida's richest king mackerel tournaments, and it comes with a three-day waterfront festival at the Madeira Beach Recreation Complex. Live bands play all three nights. Local food and drink vendors set up alongside boat dealers and tackle sellers, and fireworks go up over the water one evening. Thursday's captains meeting and team check-in open the festival, with gates at 5pm. Friday evening is the Kids Fishing Slam, a competition for children with its own awards. On Saturday the weigh-in opens in the afternoon and the King is crowned before the night is out, so plan to stay late. Everything happens at 200 Rex Place in Madeira Beach.
