About this happenin
Necronomicon is Tampa's fan-run science fiction, fantasy and horror convention, held over a September weekend at the Embassy Suites near USF and running for more than four decades. Its organizers call it Central Florida's longest-standing fan-run convention, and the volunteer roots show in the programming: writer panels and a writers' symposium, an art show, a dealers room, tabletop gaming with board game championships, LARP sessions, a T-shirt competition, a silent auction and a late-night After Dark track. Costumes are common, with props required to stay sheathed and designs held to county decency standards, so the daytime floor stays workable for families. Know before you go: a weekend badge is $75 at the door and cheaper the earlier in the year you buy, with single days sold separately at $35 for Friday or Saturday and $25 for Sunday. Registration runs 10am to 9pm Friday and Saturday and 10am to 2pm Sunday. The hotel parking system uses a QR code and a validation code that registration staff can supply.
