The con runs until roughly 3am on Friday and Saturday, and the nearest downtown Tampa hotels are about a three-minute walk from the convention center.
Friday and Saturday go until roughly 3am at MetroCon, which Team Dynamite Productions runs for three summer days at the Tampa Convention Center. Cosplay, artist alley, gaming and the late-night raves draw tens of thousands, and costumed attendees spill onto Franklin Street and into downtown restaurants all weekend. Costume and idol contests, a masquerade ball, a human chess match and an after-dark fire show come back every year. Each day starts around 10am, and Sunday ends at 6pm. The exhibit hall keeps shorter daytime hours and closes mid-afternoon Sunday. Badges come as three-day or single-day passes and cost less if you pre-register online, with a child rate for ages 6 to 12 and free entry under 6 with a paid adult. Anyone under 13 needs a registered parent or guardian with them at all times. Cosplayers, bring a repair kit.
