Youth exhibitors from 4-H and FFA show beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep, boer and dairy goats, poultry and rabbits each November at the Dover fairgrounds, and sell at the market animal sale. The Hillsborough County Fair is the county's own agricultural fair, run by the Greater Hillsborough County Fair Association, and it's smaller and more rural than the Florida State Fair in February. Tampa Rodeo stages a rodeo, and Dreamland Amusements runs the carnival midway. There's an entertainment pavilion and the Harvest Queen scholarship pageant, and the contests include a spelling bee, photography, hay bale decorating and whip cracking. Discounted gate admission is sold online before opening day, and parking is free. Gates open at 5 pm on weeknights and at noon on weekends and Veterans Day, closing between 9 and 10 pm, and the carnival runs an hour past the gates. No pets are allowed beyond documented service dogs.
