About this happenin

The Hernando County Fair runs for nine days each spring at the Brooksville fairgrounds. Cars slam around the dirt track on demolition derby nights, and after dark the Ferris wheel and the Wacky Shack fun house light up the carnival midway. The livestock barns hold open youth shows for beef cattle and for smaller animals, chickens and rabbits. The Family Living Exhibit gathers canning, quilting, photography and jewelry from around the county. Toddler-through-adult pageants crown Miss Hernando County, and fireworks close out the biggest nights. Weekday hours are usually 5pm to 10pm or 11pm, and Saturday and Sunday open at 1pm. The fair runs rain or shine unless severe weather moves into the area.
