For twelve days every February, the Florida State Fair runs at the Florida State Fairgrounds on US 301 in Tampa, finishing on Presidents' Day. Cracker Country, a village of thirteen original buildings from 1870 to 1912, opens to the public for the fair and only a few other days a year. Livestock shows run alongside Creative Living entries such as quilts and Lego builds, and the midway has more than 80 rides. About 500,000 people come. Admission bought ahead is $11.75 for ages 12 and up, $10.75 for seniors and $7.50 for children 6 to 11, and under 6 is free. Thursday admission is $3, sold at the fairgrounds only. Ride armbands cost extra and do not cover the mechanical bull or bungee jump. The midway opens at 1pm Monday through Thursday. Pets other than service animals stay home. Outside food and drink are not allowed, except for dietary needs, allergies, baby food and formula, and kids' individually wrapped snacks. Parking bought online in advance is $8, against $15 on site.
