Bay Area Renaissance Festival
12838 Auton Rd, Dade City, FL 33525
About this happenin
For seven winter weekends the village of Folkstone rises in the Dade City pines, with full-contact armored jousting, 15 stages of entertainment and 100 artisans. The Bay Area Renaissance Festival got its start in Largo and has been a Tampa Bay habit for decades, now staged on grounds just off US 301 northeast of the city. Musicians, magicians and jugglers work the stages between jousts, and each of the seven weekends carries its own theme, so the bill shifts as the run goes on. Know before you go: gates are open 10am to 6pm Saturdays and Sundays, rain or shine, with no refunds for weather. Parking is free, and attendants will point you where to go. Children 4 and under get in free, strollers are fine, and leashed dogs are welcome under the festival's posted rules. Buying ahead beats the gate price. Outside food and drink stay in the car, though one unopened 20-ounce water bottle per person is allowed, and bags are checked at the entrance.
