A master knife and tool sharpener sets up at the Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market, so bring down whatever has gone dull. The market fills Beach Boulevard below 28th Avenue South every Tuesday of the year, 9am to 2pm, a few steps from the water. The Gulfport Merchants Chamber runs it, and the mix stays local. Produce and organic growers come when the season allows, next to stalls of bread, cheese, jams, sauces, honey, olives and prepared food. Flowers and pet supplies share the street with hand-made bath and body products. Painters, potters, jewelers and woodworkers often work at their tables while you browse. Musicians play from two spots along the street, and local authors turn up. Admission is free, and so is parking in the village. The surrounding blocks hold independent shops, galleries, restaurants and Gulfport's own beach, so the market makes a good front half to a longer day.
