Twice a month Beach Boulevard in downtown Gulfport fills with vendor tents, live music and local makers, from 5 to 9 p.m. beneath a canopy of live oaks. The Gulfport Night Market lands on the first Friday and third Saturday of every month, year-round, and folds together what used to be two separate events, the First Friday Art Walk and IndieFaire. The Gulfport Merchants Chamber runs it alongside Tampa Bay Markets, and the vendor list leans toward people who make what they sell: art in most media, handcrafts, jewelry, clothing, pet products and packaged artisan foods. The boulevard ends at the waterfront, so the stroll carries you toward Boca Ciega Bay and the evening light on the water, past independent shops and restaurants keeping their doors open for the night. Know before you go: parking in the village is free, and the market is both family friendly and dog friendly, so leashed dogs are a common sight. Bring a bag for whatever you carry home.
