Florida Strawberry Festival
303 BerryFest Place, Plant City, FL 33563
About this happenin
For eleven days each spring, Plant City turns its strawberry harvest into one of North America's top 40 fairs, drawing roughly half a million people. The Florida Strawberry Festival has run since 1930, and its shape holds year to year: a midway lit up after dark, twice-daily concerts on the Wish Farms Soundstage, FFA youth livestock shows, parades, and the shortcake booths at Strawberry Central, where church groups and historical societies pile Plant City berries onto yellow cake or a buttermilk biscuit. Know before you go: gates open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Gate admission runs $15 for ages 13 and up and $5 for ages 6 to 12, with 5 and under free alongside a paying adult; discounted tickets sell at participating Publix stores in the weeks before opening. Eleven festival lots ring the grounds at $10, cash only, and a tram runs from the Red lot to Gates 10 and 14. Bring low, closed-toe shoes and sunscreen. No coolers, bottles, cans or picnic baskets inside; bags are searched.
